stories wherein choice is the ultimate power

Your favorite author's newest release is finally in your hands. It promises all of the things you love: paranormal creatures, epic stakes, fleshed out characters, and an unpredictable plot. You dive into the story, unable to resist flying through the chapters. It's everything you dreamed it would be... until you turn a page and a spicy scene hits you from nowhere. You slam the book shut, face flushing. That was definitely not what you were expecting. Sure, the author never claimed to write spice free books, but none of their previous books featured it before.

You feel crushed… You realize that you'll need to find a new YA paranormal/fantasy author who actually writes no spice and hope that they don't randomly change their mind in the future. As you search, you grow increasingly disappointed. You can't find many authors that write the type of books you long for, and the ones you do find are all fairytale retellings you've read before. While the retellings are good, you still find yourself yearning for something unpredictable.

Soon you end up spending your free time looking for books instead of reading them… stuck wondering if you'll ever find the books you're searching for...
